The Secular Franciscan Order, formerly called the Third Order of St Francis is an official order of the Catholic Church and was founded by St Francis of Assis in the early 13th century. Members are lay men and women who live in the world and gather regularly in fraternity. Members profess to live the Gospel in the manner of St Francis of Assisi by following the Rule of Life.
SAFEGUARDING
The Council of the National Fraternity of the Secular Franciscan Order Australia promotes a safe and positive environment for children, members, visitors and the vulnerable. We commit ourselves to do what “…we can to heal the wounds of abuse and to make the Church a safe place for all.” (CRA and ACBC’s response to the Royal Commission, August 2018)
